Flagship AKM DAC
In the K17 is the flagship AKM DAC chip combination — AK4191 plus dual AK4499EX2. The two AK4499EX chips handle each channel. The 8-channel to 4-channel LPF design reduces common mode interference, resulting in better channel separation and dynamics. It also features a newly-designed architecture with fully separated digital/analogue portions, which also incorporates the newly-developed DWA Routing technology for an even cleaner audio background and improved resolution.
Class AB Amplification
An important part of the K17 is a carefully crafted fully discrete amplifier circuit for headphones. This discrete circuit is of an OP+ transistor current amplification design, equipped with a classic pair of ON Semiconductor MJE243/253 transistors. It is capable of producing high current with low output impedance. The result is up to 4000mW+4000mW output power in balanced mode, nearly double that of the K9 Pro ESS. This allows it to easily drive various kinds of headphones and IEMs and to produce smooth, pleasant, and natural sound.
Specialty Chips for Signal Processing
The K17 features an M21586Q DSP chip which is capable of double-precision 64-bit floating-point calculations and runs at a high 360MHz clock frequency. This chip is complemented by a high-performance ES9821Q ADC (analog to digital converter) as well as a specially customized ultra-low phase noise femtosecond crystal oscillator.
These three components allow the user, in all modes, to utilize the 31-band high-precision lossless parametric equalizer. This PEQ is designed to ensure the audio signal is still of high fidelity even after being processed. The chip also allows for robust output protection functionality, ensuring that headphones and other connected audio equipment are fully protected.
Fully balanced design
From the DAC to the I/V conversion, to the low-pass filtering, and to headphone amp, the entire audio circuit is of a fully differential circuit architecture design. This ensures both high dynamic ranges of the signals as well as significantly reduced crosstalk. Various parts of the audio circuit, including the I/V conversion and LPF stages, use multiple low-noise precision operational amplifiers OPA1612 to ensure dynamic audio output.
Ultra low jitter clock
The K17 employs three industry-leading ACCUSILICON ultra-low phase noise femtosecond crystal oscillators, including the AS318-L (45.1584MHz, 49.1520MHz) and AS318-Pro (24.576MHz). These significantly reduce the impact of phase noise on audio signals, allowing audio signals of various sampling rates to be precisely and faithfully restored – resulting in purer and more consistent sound.
Premium-grade components
- 8 Panasonic film capacitors + 32 wafer resistors: low temperature drift and low noise to ensure stable high-quality sound in various room temperature conditions.
- NEUTRIK gold-plated connectors: tulip-shaped XLR connectors that are anti-oxidation and wear-resistant, allowing for precise and reliable connections sound in all conditions.
- High-quality Beryl solid capacitors: minimizing interference for a stable and pure power supply.
- Internal cabling: audio signals transmitted between different internal boards are high-quality with minimal loss via the use of silver-plated oxygen-free copper wires.

Inputs and outputs
With fully comprehensive inputs and outputs, the FiiO K17 can cater to more audio setups.
It features eight input modes:
- USB decoding: the XMOS 16-core XU316 enables decoding up to 768kHz/32bit, DSD512, and MQA full decoding. There is a USB-C port on both the front and rear of K19 for convenient access; the front port takes priority when both are connected.
- Streaming media receiver: connect via Wi-Fi or Ethernet and enjoy streaming media through Roon Ready or AirPlay.
- Bluetooth input: the Qualcomm QCC5125 enables support for aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, LDAC, and more codecs.
- Optical input: capable of receiving digital optical input, for use as an optical decoder.
- Coaxial input: capable of receiving digital coaxial input, for use as an coaxial decoder.
- RCA input: receive a single-ended analog signal to be amplified by the K17, ideal for use with a turntable and phono preamplifier.
- XLR input: receive a balanced analog signal to be amplified by the K17.
- Local playback: supports external USB flash drives and portable hard drives that store your private music collection. The maximum output current of the USB-A port is 500mA, which is suitable for connecting to a USB flash drive; if you need to connect to a mobile hard disk drive, please use an extra power supply to power it.
On the output side, there's 6.35mm single-ended, 4.4mm balanced, and 4-pin XLR balanced jacks to drive all of your headphones. All are located on the front of the K17 for convenient ergonomics. On the rear, you'll find both 3-pin XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced line outputs for interfacing with a variety of active speakers and external amplifiers, plus digital optical and coaxial outputs.
Switch between four output modes: PO+Pre Out to use both headphones and rear audio out simultaneously, PO for headphone output via the front panel 6.3mm, 4.4mmm and XLR ports, PRE for pre-out with adjustable volume via the rear connectors, and LO for line out with fixed volume via the rear connectors.
Streaming via Roon Ready and AirPlay
The Ethernet port supports up to Gigabit speeds for fast and stable data transmission. The AP6256 Wi-Fi module supports 2.4G and 5G wireless networks as an alternative method of transmitting lossless audio.
Bluetooth connectivity
With the QCC5125 Bluetooth chip, the K17 supports LDAC, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, and other enhanced Bluetooth codecs. This ensures high-quality, lower-latency Bluetooth audio for various applications, from music listening to video gaming.
Remote
A custom infrared remote control is included with K17, allowing you to conveniently switch between operating modes , select EQ, adjust volume, and operate other functions from a distance.
Retro-Inspired Modern Design
The industrial design of K17cleverly blends square and round shapes into a harmonious whole, combining retro hi-fi elegance with a modern technological aura. There is thoughtful consideration in both functionality and design; examples include the multiple knobs for easier instant control, and a grid structure for faster heat dissipation.
Touchscreen
With its larger colour screen than similar products, the display is clear and easy to read. Interacting with the device directly is intuitive, so that it is quick and easy to handle various operations right out of the box.
Physically separated boards
The various sections of the internal power supply, digital, and analogue sections are all located on physically separated circuit boards to avoid interference between them. This ensures the accuracy and integrity of signal processing for purer, cleaner audio output.
Precision power supply
Powering the K17 is a custom high-quality low-noise transformer, ensuring the purity of the power supplied. Additionally, five 4700μF electrolytic capacitors provide ample power reserves to ensure a steady supply of power.
Separate power supplies for the digital and analogue circuits effectively avoid crosstalk and interference between them. The K17’s analogue audio circuit is powered by a multi-stage power supply. Many of the stages have a dedicated power control circuit, including those for the digital-to-analogue conversion, LPF, and transistor. Low-noise, high-power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) TPA7A47/7A33 LDO regulators also act as secondary voltage regulators to continuously provide stable and clean power.
