Desktop DAC and Headphone Amplifier
The FiiO K9 AKM takes desktop performance to a new level. This high-performance USB DAC and headphone amplifier has been designed to redefine your listening experience. Equipped with USB-C, USB-B, optical, coaxial, and Bluetooth digital inputs; RCA, 3-pin XLR, and 4.4mm balanced analog line level outputs; and three headphone jacks (1/4" single-ended, 4.4mm balanced, and 4-pin XLR balanced), the K9 AKM is designed to elevate your audio experience from various platforms and applications to your headphones and speakers. Switchable gain levels are available, enabling you to use the built-in amplifier at comfortable volume levels with almost any headphones.

Flagship Hybrid DAC
To maximize performance, FiiO K9 AKM features an industry-leading two chip flagship DAC solution from AKM. It uses totally separated digital (AK4191EQ) and analog (AK4499EX) sections plus DWA Routing technology to improve signal-to-noise ratio across the frequency spectrum. The result is more realistic, detailed sound — as if you were there on stage or in the studio with your favourite performing artists.
With its XMOS XUF208 decoding chip, K9 AKM employs accurate and stable dual-mode clock management to handle various music formats with ease, supporting up to 768kHz/32bit PCM and DSD512.
THX Amplification
For K9 AKM's headphone amplification circuit, FiiO has an ace up its sleeve: THX AAA 788+ amplifier technology. This delivers an extraordinary 1% undistorted power output, reaching up to 780mW at 300Ω and 2000mW at 320Ω. Whether you use low-impedance or high-impedance headphones, the K9 AKM effortlessly drives them with precision, ensuring an immersive and dynamic listening experience.
THX Achromatic Audio Amplifier (THX AAA™) ensures a no-compromise headphone audio experience by delivering the world’s highest fidelity audio with infinitesimally low levels of noise, distortion and power consumption. Patented feed-forward error correction topology creates realistic, fatigue-free listening by reducing harmonic, intermodulation, and crossover distortion.
Meticulously balanced
The K9 AKM is meticulously crafted for a fully balanced design, ensuring minimal crosstalk and an authentic audio experience. Each component, from the DAC to volume adjustment and amplification, is precisely designed to contribute to the reduction of crosstalk and deliver authentic sound.
The PCB features a partitioned layout, separating power supply, signals, and analog signal loop for maximum performance and signal integrity.
With a six-stage audio circuit, including I/V conversion, LPF filter, digital volume adjustment, buffer amplifier, pre-amplifier, and post-stage drive, the K9 AKM faithfully reproduces sound, offering a pure, delicate, and rich audio experience.
Inputs and outputs
With fully comprehensive inputs and outputs, the FiiO K9 AKM can cater to diverse audio setups.
It features digital inputs via the new USB-C port on the side of the unit, USB-B, coaxial, optical Toslink, and Bluetooth, plus a set of analog RCA inputs for direct access to the THX headphone amplifier section. The button on the front of K9 AKM can be pressed to switch between these five input selections, with LED lighting indicating when the input has switched and is ready.
On the output side, there's 6.35mm single-ended, 4.4mm balanced, and 4-pin XLR balanced jacks to drive all of your headphones. All are located on the front of the K9 AKM for convenient ergonomics. On the rear, you'll find both 3-pin XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced line outputs for interfacing with a variety of active speakers and external amplifiers. One flick of the handy switch allows you to switch between three output modes: LO for line out with fixed volume via XLR+RCA, PRE for pre-out with adjustable volume via XLR+RCA, and PO for headphone output via the front panel 6.3mm, 4.4mmm and XLR ports.
Bluetooth connectivity
With the QCC5124 Bluetooth 5.1 chip, the K9 AKM supports LDAC, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, and other enhanced Bluetooth codecs. This ensures high-quality, lower-latency Bluetooth audio for various applications, from music listening to video gaming.
FiiO Control app
Unlock a range of functionalities by connecting the K9 AKM to your phone via Bluetooth and using the FIIO Control app. Customize your audio experience with options such as 6 types of filters, status indicators, EQ adjustments, and channel balance settings to match your preferences. Additionally, enjoy 7 preset music tuning styles and fine-tune your listening experience with 3 self-defined PEQ designs through the app, providing a vivid and pleasant audio journey. Note: EQ function is exclusive to Bluetooth mode.
Parametric EQ
Through the FiiO Control app, you can quickly switch between seven music tuning presets on the K9 AKM to customize your listening experience. If a preset tuning is not to your precise liking, the three self-defined PEQ options will help you to finely adjust to your preferences.
Volume control knob
The high, medium, and low hardware gain levels allow you to easily adjust the K9 AKM to handle headphones of various impedances and sensitivities for a rich and consistent listening experience.
Control the precise volume level using the iconic large FiiO control knob, with its smooth and satisfying rotation. The surrounding RGB indicator light ring is capable of displaying multiple colours, indicating audio sampling rate and Bluetooth codec.
Adjusting the volume may look like a simple concept, but a good execution is crucial to an excellent audio experience. The ADC curve reconstruction method of volume adjustment used in the K9 effectively minimizes any left-right channel volume imbalance and noise found in conventional potentiometer designs. It also results in a smooth change of volume across 120 levels of volume. This attention paid to the simple process of volume adjustment is just another layer to making sure you truly savour your music listening experience with the K9.
Power supply
A robust power supply is at the core of the K9 AKM's performance. The linear transformer, combined with 4 massive 4700uF capacitors, provides clean and continuous power. The digital and analog sections receive power separately, minimizing interference and ensuring pure and faithful music reproduction.
Besides the special high-performance linear power supply, the power stabilization and filtering within the audio circuit is also a big contributor to the K9's excellent sound. Specifically, in each stage of the audio circuit, ultra-low-noise LDOs are employed for voltage regulation.
Intelligent protection system
The K9 AKM incorporates three intelligent protection systems to prevent overheating, overload, and DC protection. These systems ensure the device delivers high-energy music without compromising its longevity, providing a worry-free listening experience.
Designed to be horizontal or vertical
Adopting the well-received design language of FiiO desktop units, the K9 AKM features an all-aluminium construction with an integrated stretching + CNC process, ensuring strength and precision. While typically seen horizontally, thanks to the included stand, the K9 AKM also be used vertically, seamlessly saving space on your desk.
