PRECISION TUNING

The No. 5909 has been engineered to provide you with optimal sound for an over-ear headphone. Its sound profile has been expertly tuned to the HARMAN Curve. The result of decades of studies and research into listening preferences and the metrics of great sound, the HARMAN Curve is the acoustic response curve that has achieved the highest subjective scoring in blind listening tests, closely matching the preferred in-room frequency response of a loudspeaker. Dr. Sean Olive, Senior Fellow at HARMAN and Past President of the Audio Engineering Society, has led further work around the science of headphones and developed a predictive measurement score for optimal sound with headphones. This pioneering research was used in the development of the Mark Levinson No. 5909 and has resulted in the incredible acoustic performance realized in these reference-class headphones.

LISTEN YOUR WAY

The No. 5909 provides a multitude of connection options, each with its own unique blend of convenience and quality. Unlike almost all other wireless headphones, they feature a true passive mode (where the electronics in the headphones including digital signal processing are disabled) that sounds just as good as active mode, illustrating the inherent strength of the drivers and their tuning.

Bluetooth: enjoy the convenience of wireless while minimizing the usual sacrifice in performance thanks to the inclusion of the best audio codecs including LDAC, AAC, and aptX Adaptive.
USB: plug into compatible USB audio devices for a direct digital connection with true high-resolution listening up to 24bit/96Khz, thanks to the DAC built into the 5909.
Analog: connect to standard 3.5mm or 6.3mm headphone jacks on audio devices, or take advantage of an external DAC to scale up your audio performance. Both 1.25m and 4m length cables are included to accommodate your listening environment.

DESIGNED FOR TRAVEL

Dive deep into your music and block out background noise as you travel. Three modes of Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation allow you to enjoy the subtle details in your music even amid noisy environments, such as during air travel. For added convenience, an Ambient Aware mode lets you talk to those around you without removing your headphones. A hard-shell travel case discretely stores a complete assortment of cables and accessories, including charging cables and airplane audio adaptor.

EXTENDED LISTENING

The No 5909 provides up to 34 hours of playback time or up to 30 hours with ANC enabled. When the battery runs out, get excellent audio performance when wired in passive mode, or recharge back up to 6 hours of playtime with just a 15-minute quick charge.

Hold conversations comfortably, in nearly any environment. Four beam-steering microphones with Smart Wind Adaption prevent your voice from being muddled by outside noise. PERSONALIZED SOUND

Control and adjust the listening settings on your headphones through the Mark Levinson Headphones App on your iPhone or Android device. Three bass contour options are provided, derived from HARMAN research of how listener preferences most commonly vary:

Neutral (HARMAN Curve)
Enhanced (approx. +3db increase at 20Hz, sloping down to match the neutral curve at 100Hz)
Attenuated (approx. –3db decrease at 20Hz, sloping up to match the neutral curve at 100Hz)
