Lithium-Magnesium Alloy Dome
The density of lithium and magnesium are both lower than that of beryllium. Use of lithium-magnesium alloy as the dome material of the diaphragm offers a combination of optimum rigidity, and a lighter weight than a pure beryllium dome more commonly found in IEMs. Moreover, this alloy has an outstanding damping coefficient. As a diaphragm dome, it not only increases bandwidth and playback details, but also effectively suppresses unnecessary resonance and improves the naturalness of the treble.
Acoustic Architecture
The MOONDROP R&D team applies its accumulated scientific and engineering know-how and expertise to every stage of hardware development and testing, and subjective tuning of in-ear headphones is performed by experienced audio professionals. This coordinated in-house teamwork streamlines the introduction and application of new materials in MOONDROP products. Starfield 2 is meticulously tuned by experienced acoustic engineers, and exhibits an excellent frequency response. The lithium-magnesium alloy dome diaphragm delivers a natural, open, delicate, and highly accurate timbre.
Pressure Vent + Bass Boost
The pressure vent of Starfield 2 adopts a brand-new off-center diversion structure to effectively counter the negative effect on sound of proximity to the ear concha. Starfield 2 also ships with a bass booster plug that can be inserted in the groove of the pressure vent, resulting in greatly increased sub-bass if desired.
Iridescent Design
Building on the original Starfield's technology, the shell of Starfield 2 adopts alloy casting and CNC milling of intricate details. The iridescent paint coating reflects different colors when viewed from varying angles and in different light conditions, and creates a stunning effect reminiscent of a starry sky. The nozzle of the Starfield 2 consists of a separate brass CNC-milled component, with a gold-plated surface offering higher precision and density, and resulting in beautiful timbre.
Replaceable Acoustic Nozzle
Starfield 2 incorporates a new generation of replaceable acoustic filters. The front end of the brass nozzle consists of a removable tip, allowing users to replace the acoustic filter quickly and conveniently. Replacement is far easier compared with existing multi-layer filters, and the design makes for greater reliability. In the event of blockage or damage, the cost of replacement is much lower than that of standard nozzles.
Acoustic Filter
The nozzle is equipped with a brand-new improved third-generation patented anti-blocking filter that is more effective than previous iterations, greatly reducing oily earwax build-up, and offering better performance in the mid-high frequency band.
Interchangeable Cable
The included high-quality silver-plated cable uses a star-twisted structure and features a colour-matched design, echoing the appearance of the earphone shell and further emphasizing the starry theme. As is standard for Moondrop, this IEM uses a 0.78mm dual-pin universal replaceable cable, allowing users to adopt third-party cables and adapters to meet their needs.
