Xtension 9 Evolution incorporates all our turntable design experience in a slimline size to fit standard audio racks. The chassis is made from heavyweight non-resonant CNC machined MDF. This offers us a solid and acoustically outstanding base to build a turntable as MDF has very little material typical resonances. We avoided hollow spaces in the chassis as these could have a negative impact on the sound quality. Choose from our various finish options, either luxury hand painted colours or real wood veneers.

Pro-Ject Xtension 9 Evolution is a high-end turntable with a dense, resonance absorbing MDF chassis filled with steel pellets that add mass and further disperse resonance. Unique opposing-magnetic feet decouple the main plinth from its surface. The feet isolate the weighty 35 lbs of total turntable mass from external vibration thus combining principles of mass-loading & suspension. Instead of a purely aluminum main platter, Pro-Ject uses a special alloy that is also damped with thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) with a top layer of recycled vinyl for optimal record coupling. The final product subsequently benefits from a wonderful resonance-free, high-mass platter that runs ultra-silently on an inverted ceramic bearing (ball & plate) with additional opposing-magnetic force to eliminate bearing friction & rumble.
Xtension 9 Evolution features high-precision quartz-generated electronic speed regulation with microprocessor control (Speed Box technology). Absolutely clean AC power is generated, which is then fed directly into a built-in synchronous motor. Decoupling from mains interference, quartz regulation and a dedicated filter circuit delivers far better speed stability and smooth, undisturbed motor operation. Speed selection between 33 and 45rpm is as simple as the push of a button.
These high-end turntables not only use multi-density fiber (MDF, which absorbs resonance), but inside the plinths are also “central gravity points” filled will steel pellets. Drawing harmful resonance to the central gravity point all but eliminates the potential for plinth and bearing noise to reach the tonearm and cartridge. Pellets are used as opposed to a solid alloy due to their dispersion effect where a solid alloy may resonate. This design heightens the overall mass of these turntables as well, a well-known approach to optimizing sonics.
The Xtension 9 Evolution turntable ships with the adept EVO 9 CC tonearm with ABEC 7 quality bearings & a one-piece carbon fiber armtube.
Xtension 9 Evolution comes equipped with a balanced 5-pin DIN phono output and can be run balanced with either DIN > XLR or DIN > mini XLR phono cables and a balanced phono stage. The turntable ships with a DIN > RCA phono cable for maximum compatibility out of the box (unbalanced dual single-ended RCA/ground is by far the most common connection type in phono). Balanced add-ons are sold separately.

Pro-Ject Audio Systems 2 year warranty
All Pro-Ject Audio Systems products are produced under the highest possible level of quality control. Every single product runs through a four-hour testing procedure wherein the mechanical and electrical performances, as well as the sound characteristics, are checked. Only when the product satisfies our expert test team may it leave our factory. To show our confidence in our products and as a way of offering long-term support to our customers, we offer a two year warranty that is managed by Gentec international in Canada.
- A warranty is valid only for products purchased from an authorized Canadian Pro-Ject Audio Systems retailer or dealer.
- This warranty offer is limited to the repair of the equipment (which could be a repair or replacement at our discretion, neither of which affects your original warranty).
- Neither transportation or any other costs, nor any risk for removal, transportation and installation of products is covered by this warranty.
- A warranty is only valid for the original owner. It is not transferable.
- To validate your warranty, you will need to provide the original sales invoice or other proof of ownership and date of purchase.
A Pro-Ject Audio Systems warranty relates to claims of defects in materials and/or workmanship at the time of purchase. It does not cover:
- Deterioration of component parts, the nature of which is to become worn or depleted with use, such as batteries and headphone ear pads, drive belts and cartridges.
- Damages caused by incorrect installation, connection or packing.
- Damages caused by any use other than the correct use described in the user manual, negligence, modifications, or use of parts that are not made or authorized by Pro-Ject Audio Systems.
- Damages caused by faulty or unsuitable ancillary equipment.
- Damages caused by accidents, lightning, water, fire heat, war, public disturbances or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of Pro-Ject Audio Systems and its appointed distributors.
- Products where the serial number has been altered, deleted, removed or made illegible.
- Repairs or modifications that have been executed by an unauthorized person.
Products from Pro-Ject Audio Systems are expertly engineered precision instruments, which can get damaged when wrongly used or transported. Packaging is considered a part of the product. Please handle packaging and all accessories with care and store them away safely for future use. If a product is shipped or transported for a warranty claim without the original packaging, or if it is not packed according to the instruction manual, the warranty shall be void, as any damage caused by transportation is not covered.
