Since it launched, our flagship IEM Fourté proudly sat at the top of our product range, influencing almost every aspect of our custom and universal products for 10 years. Now, 64 Audio is ready to introduce you to a new benchmark in portable high-end audio: Ocean.
Our new flagship for portable high-end audio performance, Ocean is fundamentally a 6-driver, 4-way system defined by a dynamically neutral sound signature and impressive broadband realism.
Two custom dynamic cone-to-cone isobaric drivers, two mid-range balanced armature drivers, one high-mid balanced armature driver, and one tia™ high driver produce expansive imaging and instrument separation, balanced by a cohesive musical presentation. Beyond its default tuning, Ocean’s Passive Acoustic Control adds additional modularity to its sonic behavior with up to 32 possible configurations.
Presented in a Champagne Copper-colored aluminum shell with a machined faceplate, Ocean’s design is inspired by aeolian ripples: geological patterns formed in sediment and shifted by the movement of wind. Our inclination toward minimalist design is in keeping with our brand identity, as well as an intentionally diametric response to current design trends in the market, especially among flagship products.
Ocean is the ultimate tinkerer’s UIEM and the next volume in 64 Audio’s anthology.

A culmination of all that we’ve learned since our founding in 2010, Ocean presents a wide soundstage, excellent separation, and full-range clarity. Its iso-group provides a powerful and exceptionally clean low end. The mid-range is rich and present, leaving nothing to be desired. The upper mid-range, critical to our perception of realism, continues our tradition of striking a perfect balance between presence and subtlety.
Ocean features one of the very few additive tuning mechanisms in UIEM design: our remarkably effective tia waveguide. Further refined with our recently patented meta-material, and combined with the tia™ high driver, Ocean renders high frequencies with a lifelike, natural, and effortless character.

Passive Acoustic Control
Shape the acoustic response of Ocean with two stainless steel tia™ screens that control high-frequency damping and four back-vent filters which regulate the pneumatic loading of the isobaric dynamic drivers. Along with its four apex™ modules, there are 32 different combinations for a truly custom sound signature.
We know from our experience — from casual listeners to the most discerning world-class performers — that there’s a range in low-frequency response preference. This is further confirmed by all available research into headphone neutrality targets. This is why Ocean allows you to choose between four back-vent filters, giving you a roughly 8db range in low-frequency sensitivity without affecting isolation.
While low-frequency response has a range of preference, we understand that interpersonal HRTF variation means that our sensitivity to high-frequencies differs based on the acoustic impedance of our anatomy. Ocean’s single bore has been redesigned to accommodate a removable stainless steel "tia" screen which comes in two options for high-frequency sensitivity. This can either be useful to tune Ocean to your HRTF, or as a mechanism to make adjustments for changes in source material.

Air Pressure Exchange
Apex is a patented vent that releases air pressure in a sealed ear canal all while retaining a level of isolation; this venting alleviates listener fatigue and allows for a much more realistic soundstage.
When you seal a miniature speaker in an ear canal, the air inside becomes trapped. As the speaker produces sound, it moves the air and causes the eardrum to work excessively. The pneumatic pressure exerted on the eardrum causes ear fatigue. Apex relieves this pressure, allowing the eardrum to move naturally, so you can comfortably listen longer.
Apex enables air to move freely in the ear canal, which extends the perceived soundstage and allows for a more natural listening experience. Everything from inserting, wearing, and removing the IEMs becomes a much more natural and painless process.
Apex is implemented in Ocean via interchangeable modules, so you can quickly switch between different levels of isolation and sound signatures. Apex comes in four module variations for Ocean: mX, m12, m15, and m20.

Tubeless In-Ear Audio
64 Audio's tia is a patented IEM design methodology that aims to reduce unwanted resonance and distortion for a transparent and lifelike sound signature. Ocean features two major elements of the tia system:
The tia driver is an open balanced armature speaker design that brings new meaning to resolution and transparency. It delivers crisp and detailed upper frequencies with characteristics not often found in a headphone or in-ear monitor. By opening a balanced armature, the diaphragm becomes fully unobstructed, unleashing the sound potential of the driver. This eliminates a lot of the vibrations and resonances that are inherent in conventional, closed balanced armature designs. With this new method of producing and delivering sound to the ear, conventional sound tubes and dampers are no longer necessary.

The tia single-bore design is a huge leap forward in eliminating unwanted tube resonance. The large bore itself serves as a sound-shaping chamber and aids the tia high driver in delivering a linear and coherent frequency response. Because of the extremely short sound path of the tia high driver, a remarkable high-frequency extension and smoothness is achieved. The large single bore also helps prevent clogging of the tip and obstruction of sound.

Linear Impedance Design
Smartphones, body packs, amps, and DAPs produce audio with different output impedances. The interaction of the earphone impedance curve with the sources may result in the same IEM sounding different with different sources.
LID is a proprietary circuit that corrects the non-linear impedances of the multiple drivers in this ten-driver IEM, restoring proper interaction with the source and preserving the desired sound signature, so you can enjoy the same sound reliably across sources.

SHIELDED CABLE
Ocean comes standard with two shielded cables, terminated in 3.5mm and balanced 4.4mm. Its four-core cross-braided wires are made of silver-plated, single-crystal copper (UP-OCC); offering outstanding noise shielding and transparent signal transmission, with a low impedance of just 0.29Ω.
