U4s
Four Driver Universal In-Ear Monitor
Made in the USA
U4s is a quad driver hybrid UIEM designed to bring a wider audience closer to their music, featuring ground-breaking patented technologies originally developed for our flagship products.
Its ergonomic anodized aluminum shell houses a single dynamic driver, two balanced-armature drivers, and one patented tia driver; all weaved together with our patented Tia, LID, and Apex technology. The four-way crossover is elevated with the use of our proprietary electronic low-pass filter; reducing low- frequency distortion. The assortment of included apex modules and ear tips are an invitation to further shape the sound based on preference and source material while the ultra-low impedance premium silver-plated copper cable ensures unimpeded signal transmission.
Its Slate Blue shell colour was influenced by some of the world’s most beautiful blue-dial timepieces while the unique faceplate pattern is inspired by Muonionalusta meteorite fragments. Both the faceplate and shell’s illuminant properties give it a unique tone in varying lighting conditions.
The dissemination of tia technology within our universal IEM range brings the classic 64 Audio sound signature to a new price point. U4s sounds light on its feet while effortlessly delivering physically engaging sub-bass without bleeding into the mid-bass. Balanced mid frequencies and a pleasant high-mid band respond well to a wide array of music and recording styles at every volume level; present but not fatiguing. The tia high-driver’s open airy quality couples with the extended sound-stage provided by apex for a lifelike sonic experience.

The frequency response of U4s follows proven targets for fidelity and preference. It’s powerful, enveloping, and deep while avoiding being muddy; this kind of bass can only be produced by a dynamic driver. U4s comes short of being classified as warm, rather it is like a tight and agile stand-mount speaker with a well implemented sub. The key to this is how the low-frequency rise starts low enough to keep out of the mid-bass.
Mids are revealing and present, contributing greatly to its wide stereo imaging and separation. U4s’ perfect balance of presence and body lends itself well to every type of music and volume preference. High frequency response toes the line between neutral and detailed. Mixes that are typically “bright sounding” translate nicely without being harsh or fatiguing.
Using the various included apex modules and ear-tips allows the listener to further customize the sound of the U4s based on their taste and the needs of the music.
U4s features exclusive technologies that challenge traditional in-ear monitor designs to give you the absolute best listening experience.

Tubeless In-Ear Audio
64 Audio's tia is a patented IEM design methodology that aims to reduce unwanted resonance and distortion for a transparent and lifelike sound signature. U4s features two major elements of the tia system:
The tia driver is an open balanced armature speaker design that brings new meaning to resolution and transparency. It delivers crisp and detailed upper frequencies with characteristics not often found in a headphone or in-ear monitor. By opening a balanced armature, the diaphragm becomes fully unobstructed, unleashing the sound potential of the driver. This eliminates a lot of the vibrations and resonances that are inherent in conventional, closed balanced armature designs. With this new method of producing and delivering sound to the ear, conventional sound tubes and dampers are no longer necessary.

The tia single-bore design is a huge leap forward in eliminating unwanted tube resonance. The large bore itself serves as a sound-shaping chamber and aids the tia high driver in delivering a linear and coherent frequency response. Because of the extremely short sound path of the tia high driver, a remarkable high-frequency extension and smoothness is achieved. The large single bore also helps prevent clogging of the tip and obstruction of sound.

Air Pressure Exchange
Apex is a patented vent that releases air pressure in a sealed ear canal all while retaining a level of isolation; this venting alleviates listener fatigue and allows for a much more realistic soundstage.
When you seal a miniature speaker in an ear canal, the air inside becomes trapped. As the speaker produces sound, it moves the air and causes the eardrum to work excessively. The pneumatic pressure exerted on the eardrum causes ear fatigue. Apex relieves this pressure, allowing the eardrum to move naturally, so you can comfortably listen longer.
Apex enables air to move freely in the ear canal, which extends the perceived soundstage and allows for a more natural listening experience. Everything from inserting, wearing, and removing the IEMs becomes a much more natural and painless process.
Apex is implemented in U4s via interchangeable modules, so you can quickly switch between different levels of isolation and sound signatures. Although the modules technically only affect the low frequencies, this psychoacoustically affects your perception of the whole frequency range.
- The m20 module (-20dB noise isolation) greatly increases sub-bass response while keeping the mid-bass clean. Works great for overly bright mixes, as it tilts the response towards the low end. While this module shrinks the sound-stage width, it works great for synth heavy or modern pop music that doesn’t contain much acoustic spatial information. The m20 module also unlocks some of the missing sub information in older rock recordings.
- The m15 module (-15dB noise isolation) is fitted to U4s by default, allowing you to hear the clarity of your music along with some of your surroundings.
- The mX module (-10dB noise isolation) delivers the widest imaging with a reduction in noise isolation. Sub-bass response is greatly diminished, giving you the ability to attenuate to your preferences based on music type and mix. It is ideally used for recordings that do not capture much sub-bass content while containing a lot of spatial information. Because of the reduction in sub-bass response it creates a slight tilt in perception towards high frequencies.

Linear Impedance Design
Smartphones, body packs, amps, and DAPs produce audio with different output impedances. The interaction of the earphone impedance curve with the sources may result in the same IEM sounding different with different sources.
LID is a proprietary circuit that corrects the non-linear impedances of the multiple drivers in this four-driver IEM, restoring proper interaction with the source and preserving the desired sound signature, so you can enjoy the same sound reliably across sources.
Electrical Low Pass Filter
An acoustic damper (old technology) doesn’t actually prevent frequencies from getting to the driver, it merely blocks frequencies from getting to the ear. At higher volumes acoustic dampers can introduce unwanted distortion through vibration and air movement.
64 Audio's electrical low pass filter lowers distortion by eliminating unwanted frequencies. It does this with an electrical circuit that eliminates target frequencies before they even reach the driver.
CABLE

64 Audio's new, low resistance cable is included in black.
It features a branded straight 3.5mm metal jack, as well as a metal synch and branded metal bifurcation.
Our classic angled 2-Pin connectors are situated at the end of an ergonomic curve in the cable to accommodate a comfortable fit around the ear without a memory wire. The new soft jacketing minimizes tangling and microphonic noise.
