Power, Speed, & Balance

The mythological Chimera is represented by the lion, snake, and goat — it is the spirit and character of this mythological beast that is conveyed in Chimera's astounding sonic reproduction. Bone conduction and our True Glass dynamic drivers deliver tactile, extended, and textured lows, that remain fast and accurate due to the resonant properties of Chimera's magnesium shell and the unique structural character of the glass dynamic driver. Three premium balanced armatures and four electrostatic supertweeters create soaring detail, extension, and air with extraordinary speed and sonic richness. The natural balance of these four technologies is further emphasized through the experienced and careful acoustic treatment to effortlessly juxtapose and blend their strengths.

DRIVER SELECTION — QUAD-BRID DRIVER ARCHITECTURE

10mm bone conduction driver

Chimera's 10mm bone conductor is adds powerful resonance and low-frequency impact. Embedded in a custom engineered housing pocket and paired with a magnesium shell to improve conductance and create visceral physicality.

10mm True Glass dynamic driver

Powering low and low/mid frequencies, Chimera features an all-new True Glass DD. Created in partnership with Glass Acoustic Innovations this new dynamic driver uses specialize alkali glass processed for strength and acoustic performance.

Dual diaphragm balanced armature

One of the newest advancements in balanced armature technology, the dual diaphragm BA features two diaphragms connected to a single armature. Working in unison, the diaphragms impart extra sonic richness and weight while still conveying the highly regarded detail and accuracy customary to balanced armatures.

Two high-frequency balanced armatures

Two premium balanced armatures work in unison to deliver crisp, accurate, lightning fast high-frequency response, revealing nuance and micro-detail with astounding realism.

Quad electrostatic supertweeters

Extending Chimera’s high frequencies to add shimmer, air, and clarity, these four drivers move with incredible precision to reproduce cymbals, reverb, delay trails, and micro detail.

COMPONENTS & TUNING

Shell-embedded conduction

Engineered to increase surface contact and sonic transmission of Chimera's bone conductor. Chimera's shell features a customized internal 'pocket' that helps maximize surface contact and physical transmission of the bone conduction driver.

Targeted pressure valve

Backing Chimera's True Glass dynamic driver is rear pressure valve ensuring even air pressure on each side of the diaphragm and allowing greater accuracy and even movement.

Acoustic routing and spatial tuning

Chimera's acoustic routing and spatial engineering underwent over fifty revisions to hone and perfect its powerful sonic signature. Every nuance and detail carefully shapes driver performance to highlight and elevate driver response.

Hybrid vintage/ceramic capacitors

Aiding with Chimera’s driver cohesion is a vintage ceramic-film capacitor chosen specifically for its compatibility and synergy with Chimera's internal architecture. This special component helps to seamlessly blend frequency compartmented driver assemblies and to elevate and unify its sonic presentation.

'Master Track' tuning filter

Layered into Chimera’s nozzle is a final stage tuning damper that adds a cohesive overall tuning adjustment at the last stage of Chimera’s output.

Campfire Audio has designed, engineered, and hand-assembled premium IEMs from our sole location in Portland, Oregon for over a decade. Chimera is meticulously crafted, individually fine tuned, with care and precision at every step.

MATERIALS & BUILD

CNC Electro-plated PVD Magnesium

Chimera's magnesium housing is selected for its unique resonant quality, heightening the physicality and impact of the bone conduction low driver. Engineered with an internal 'pocket' to embedded the BC driver and increase surface contact.

Carbon fiber-brass Damascus lid

Beautiful, organic, durable, and unique. Layers of brass are folded into carbon fiber and CNC machined to reveal unique shapes and gradients. Each Chimera features its own special fingerprint with no two sets being the same.

Custom lid ventilation

Chimera features a vented housing design that allows for comfortable balance to internal ear pressure.

Machined brass nozzle

High quality brass is long-lasting and resilient, ensuring you can change ear tips worry free.

2-pin connectors

Chimera uses standard .78mm 2-Pin connectors, using high-quality connector pins and receivers and a recessed instalment for added stability and durability.

ALO AUDIO VALENCE-6 PREMIUM CABLE

Six high-purity conductors

The Valence-6 cable features six conductors, four high purity copper conductors paired with two 50/50 pure copper/SPC conductors.

Aluminum hardware

Lightweight, durable aluminum hardware at cable terminations and y-split.

Adjustable slider

Easily adjust and secure your cable with an aluminum cinch.

2-pin connectors

Chimera uses standard .78 2-pin connectors with recessed sockets for added stability and security.
