CD Playback System
Precise reading, controlled precision. The custom CD playback system built into the top of DMP-A8 Master Gen 2 is optimized for audio applications, with quieter and more stable operation. High-precision error correction reduces read errors and interference, ensuring more complete and accurate playback. In addition to standard playback, it supports CD ripping, allowing you to copy track files from CDs to local, removable, or network-attached storage drives in WAV and FLAC file formats.
Timing, Perfected
Time is the foundation of digital audio, and the Master Edition upgrades it. The system clock features femtosecond clocks as the timing core, anchoring every digital pulse with extraordinary accuracy. This precision in timing translates to pure sound. Internal OCXO + PLL Technology eliminates temperature-induced clock drift, minimizing timing errors for ultra-stable digital decoding and conversion.
External Clock Input
If you have an external clock conducting your system already, DMP-A8 Master Gen 2 allows you to take advantage of it, with support for 10MHz adaptive external clock input. This enables integration with high-precision clock systems, improving timing stability across your entire setup.
PERFORMANCE HARDWARE
Flagship DAC Architecture
Each component plays a dedicated role, with a two-chip DAC solution from AKM to minimize the effects of digital noise within the analog output. The DMP-A8 Gen 2 pairs the AK4191EQ digital processor with the AK4499EXEQ DAC, allowing each stage of the signal path to be optimized for maximum precision and ensuring precise processing at every stage of the signal path. From lossless formats such as FLAC, WAV, and APE to DSD512 playback, more musical details are preserved, with a quieter background and greater separation. Combined with AKM’s Velvet Sound™ technology, vocals, instruments, and spatial imaging become more natural and engaging.

A dual-power architecture separates the power supplies for digital and analog sections. When power is compromised, detail is lost and dynamics are constrained. DMP-A8 Gen 2's power paths are isolated at the source to reduce cross-circuit interference. A cleaner power foundation ensures stable operation of the DAC and analog circuits. The linear power supply achieves an ultra-low 20μV noise floor, preserving subtle signal variations without constraints.

An M.2 NVMe SSD (solid state drive) slot on the bottom of the unit allows easy storage expansion without disassembly. DMP-A8 Gen 2 supports up to 1×8TB expansion capacity, offering more space for your music collection. NVMe high-speed read/write performance with silent operation, with additional support for USB OTG external expansion.

Resistor to Resistor (R-2R) Volume Control Circuit
A fully balanced analog volume adjustment network composed of precision resistors and relays achieves accurate volume control, effectively suppressing distortion and noise in the analog signal. It also features volume protection, automatically reducing excessive volume to the designated safe level during startup or input interface switching. The incorporation of R2R analog volume control ensures that the DAC can operate at its optimal state continuously.
Electrical Isolation
The DMP-A8 Gen 2 features internal electrical isolation architecture, reducing noise from external devices and digital circuitry. By maintaining a cleaner signal environment, the design ensures you'll hear quieter background with clearer detail, layering, and sound structure.
Ultra-Fast Network Transmission
The SFP fiber network port provides electrical isolation to effectively shield against electromagnetic interference, ensuring stable and reliable data transmission that meets the demanding requirements of Hi-Fi systems. A standard RJ45 Gigabit LAN Port is also provided for more conventional network setups.

Wi-Fi 6 Wireless Engine
DMP-A8 Gen 2 upgrades the wireless network hardware to Wi-Fi 6. Dual-band 2.4G + 5G connectivity improves interference resistance and throughput, and helps with stable connection even in more complex network environments.
Better Bluetooth
A8 Gen 2 is equipped with a Qualcomm QCC3095 flagship Bluetooth audio receiver module. Bluetooth 5.4 ensures stable and efficient wireless connectivity. While Wi-Fi is recommended for the best fidelity, Bluetooth still offers a quick convenient connection with phones, tablets, and computers for everyday wireless playback while still delivering engaging sound.
HDMI eARC
DMP-A8 Gen 2 features built-in HDMI ARC/eARC input, supporting lossless audio return from TVs and projectors. Transform TV audio into a true Hi-Fi experience.
Coaxial / Optical Input

AES/EBU Professional Interface
